The organizational secretary of Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (VV), Alim Rama, has sent a letter to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani requesting the appointment of the party’s third member to the Central Election Commission (CEC).

This development follows the decision of the Constitutional Court, which dismissed President Osmani’s request for clarification regarding the appointment of CEC members.

Earlier, President Osmani had approached the Constitutional Court for guidance after VV requested three members, while the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) requested two. According to the president, the parties had submitted more proposals than the Constitution allows.

Rama emphasized that VV’s request is based on the Constitutional Court’s ruling rejecting the president’s request to evaluate the conflict over appointments in the CEC.

“Today, through a letter, I addressed President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu requesting the appointment of the third CEC member from Lëvizja Vetëvendosje. This request takes into account the Constitutional Court’s decision rejecting the president’s request to evaluate the conflict between constitutional competencies under Article 113(3)(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo (Case No. KO81/26). The political will of citizens expressed through the December 28 elections is clear. As the fundamental principle is that political representation in the CEC is tied to parliamentary representation from elections, we request that this principle—and the will of the people—be respected,” Rama wrote.

On Wednesday, for the same issue, PDK leader Bedri Hamza also sent a letter to President Osmani, requesting the prompt appointment of the party’s second member to the Central Election Commission.
