Arsenio Dominguez, head of the International Maritime Organization, বলেছেন that no country has the legal authority to block the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping routes.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Dominguez stated that while the U.S. blockade appears “very specific” to access to Iranian ports, international law does not allow any state to shut down an international strait used for global navigation.

“In accordance with international law, countries do not have the right to block an international strait used for international navigation,” he said.

He also warned that the situation is already affecting global trade and seafarers. According to him, around 20,000 sailors are currently unable to transit through the strait, adding further pressure on the global economy.

Dominguez stressed that additional blockades will not resolve the crisis and instead risk worsening its impact.

“The global economy continues to be affected, and until the root causes are addressed, we all suffer from it,” he said, urging all parties to respect international rules.
