On the anniversary of the massacre in Nabërgjan, Peja, the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid tribute to the 31 innocent civilians killed by Serbian military and police forces.

Acting Prime Minister Kurti said that men, women, and children, aged between 13 and 95, unprotected and unarmed, were killed simply because they were Albanians and wanted to live freely in their own land.

“This crime was committed by the state military and police machinery, conceived and planned in Belgrade by the Milošević regime, with the aim of exterminating the Albanian population. But their genocidal plan failed. Our people survived. We are here, free and victorious,” said the acting Prime Minister.

Furthermore, according to a press release from the Office of the Prime Minister (ZKM), Kurti emphasized that for full peace, justice is required, and that without justice, the wounds remain open.

“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has strengthened its capacities for investigation and prosecution. Therefore, today we once again call on the State Prosecutor’s Office, in particular the Special Prosecution, to act without delay based on existing evidence, so that the criminals are brought to justice, even in their absence,” added Acting Prime Minister Kurti.
