Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the peace process aimed at ending the war in Ukraine has effectively stalled, despite what he described as early positive signals in relations between the United States and Russia under the administration of Donald Trump.

Speaking to Russian media, Lavrov said that discussions about potential cooperation with the United States have produced no concrete results so far.

“Beyond this regular dialogue, which is normal in relations between countries, everything else still follows the model initiated by President Biden,” Lavrov said, referring in particular to continued sanctions against Russia.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a new wave of Russian drone attacks across Ukraine, saying that more than 100 drones had entered Ukrainian airspace as Moscow increasingly shifts to daytime strikes.

“Russia continues its attacks shamelessly, deliberately targeting our railway infrastructure and civilian areas in our cities,” Zelensky wrote in a post on X.

Lavrov’s remarks come only days after Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that the war was nearing its end. Trump made similar comments on Tuesday while departing for his two-day visit to China.
