Glauk Konjufca, Kosovo’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, strongly reaffirmed Pristina’s transatlantic alignment on Wednesday, designating the United States as the young republic’s primary strategic anchor and an “irreplaceable historical partner.”

Konjufca’s high-level diplomatic statements followed a bilateral working session with U.S. Representative Keith Self (R-TX), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe.

Institutionalizing the Preševo Valley Grievances

The cornerstone of the discussion centered on a recent fact-finding mission conducted by the U.S. Congressional delegation to the Preševo Valley—an ethnic Albanian enclave located within neighboring southwestern Serbia.

Following their field assessment, Congressman Self publicly acknowledged that ethnic Albanians face “real, systemic obstacles” under Belgrade’s administrative jurisdiction.

Konjufca expressed deep state-level gratitude to Rep. Self for leveraging his legislative chair to formally introduce House Resolutions 1246 and 1250 into the U.S. Congress, which advocate for Kosovo’s accelerated inclusion into NATO structures.

Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca on Transatlantic Security: “For the Republic of Kosovo, the United States is not merely a conventional strategic ally; it is our irreplaceable historical partner. We share a profound bond of democratic values, mutual trust, and deep-seated security reliance that will remain unshakable across generations.”

A Unified Diplomatic Push Amid Snap Elections

The productive session with Foreign Minister Konjufca capped off a high-stakes tour for the American delegation, which included Representative Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA). Earlier in the day, the lawmakers were received by Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Acting President Albulena Haxhiu.

The visible, bipartisan support from Washington provides an invaluable diplomatic boost to the ruling administration just 24 hours before the official 9-day electoral campaign begins for the June 7 snap parliamentary elections.

By demonstrating airtight coordination with the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services committees, Konjufca and the broader Kosovar leadership are signaling to voters—and regional adversaries—that Kosovo’s integration into the Western security umbrella remains fully backed by the United States.
