Kosovo’s acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, has concluded a series of high-level diplomatic meetings at the Pentagon, securing commitments for broader bilateral defense capabilities following structural talks with U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Daniel Zimmerman.

The bilateral consultations focused heavily on integrating Kosovo’s evolving domestic security architecture into Euro-Atlantic systems, developing the long-term operational capacity of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), and expanding joint initiatives within the defense manufacturing sector.

Expanding the KSF Blueprint and Defense Manufacturing

Throughout the sessions, Minister Maqedonci outlined Pristina’s aggressive new national defense strategy—including the framework for a decentralized “comprehensive defense” model inspired by allied systems and the creation of a specialized national Gendarmerie.

According to defense readouts, Assistant Secretary Zimmerman highly commended the Government of Kosovo for systematically increasing its national defense budget and moving toward domestic defense production capabilities.

The defense minister concluded by reaffirming that Kosovo’s unbreakable strategic partnership with the United States serves as the foundational cornerstone of the young republic’s national security, acting as the ultimate institutional guarantee for building a professional, modern, and NATO-interoperable military force.
