According to information from several sources linked to Montenegro’s security sector, Montenegrin citizens are reportedly experiencing difficulties when entering Serbia after Montenegrin authorities expelled more than 80 Serbian citizens from Tivat Airport on the grounds that they posed a risk to national security.

According to the same sources, since 7:30 p.m. yesterday, no Montenegrin citizens have reportedly been allowed to enter Serbia through the Gostun, Jabuka, and Dračenovac border crossings, which are under the jurisdiction of the Serbian police.

A source familiar with the situation told the Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti that Serbian police representatives informed their Montenegrin counterparts that the measure is temporary and expected to remain in effect for only a short period.

Meanwhile, Montenegrin police continue to conduct enhanced security checks, but entry into Montenegro remains permitted for all individuals who do not pose a security risk, Vijesti reports. However, according to available information, Serbian police have also increased their presence at border crossings since last evening and are carrying out detailed inspections primarily targeting Montenegrin citizens, significantly slowing border traffic.

Police sources unofficially stated that the longest delays are being recorded at entry points into Serbia from Montenegro due to extensive checks conducted by Serbian border police.

Citizens are advised to monitor conditions at border crossings through cameras available on the official websites of the relevant institutions before traveling. For official information, travelers are encouraged to contact Serbia’s Ministry of Interior.
