Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti welcomed Switzerland’s newly appointed Ambassador to Kosovo, Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin, during a meeting focused on further strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Kurti extended a warm welcome to the new ambassador and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would deepen further during her mandate.
He highlighted the longstanding ties between Kosovo and Switzerland, noting that Switzerland has historically provided refuge to persecuted Albanians and has remained an important partner for Kosovo in development, economic growth and security.
Around 200,000 Kosovars live in Switzerland, forming one of the strongest human bridges between the two countries. Kurti emphasized that the Kosovo diaspora in Switzerland is not only an important source of remittances, but also contributes through investment, entrepreneurship and job creation.
Kurti also expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s continued support through its three main areas of cooperation with Kosovo: development, economic cooperation and human security.
Particular appreciation was given to Switzerland’s continued participation in KFOR through the Swisscoy contingent, which has been present in Kosovo since 1999. Kurti also welcomed the Swiss Parliament’s decision to extend the contingent’s mandate.
He described Switzerland’s continued security engagement in Kosovo as a clear sign of mutual trust and a long-term partnership between the two countries.
The meeting underlined the close relationship between Kosovo and Switzerland, built not only on diplomatic cooperation, but also on strong ties between their peoples, economic links and a shared commitment to stability and security.
