Luke Zahner Luke Zahner, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress Center for American Progress and former American diplomat, has said that he does not see the absence of a nominated U.S. ambassador to Kosovo as a problem at this stage.

Speaking to the Serbian portal Kosovo Online Kosovo Online, Zahner noted that the U.S. Embassy in Pristina continues to operate at full capacity and is currently led by a highly qualified chargé d’affaires.

He said he expects a nominee for the next U.S. ambassador to Kosovo to be announced in the coming weeks or months.

“The embassy is functioning at full capacity and is very engaged on the ground. There is currently a very qualified chargé d’affaires. We may not see major new initiatives pushed forward regarding Serbia and Kosovo or the wider region, but I do not think this will necessarily have a negative impact on bilateral relations in the near term,” Zahner said.
