On Friday, the Acting Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, participated in a high-level roundtable discussion organized by the KUSA Economic Growth and Integration with the West Team, held in close cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America in Kosovo.

The focused gathering centered on discussing urgent necessities and concrete opportunities to attract foreign direct investment to the country, as reported by IndeksOnline.

Reflecting on U.S. Ties and Joint Institutional Efforts

During her address, Kusari-Lila expressed deep personal and professional appreciation for engaging with the organization. She noted that it was a distinct privilege to return to a panel with KUSA (Kosovo United States Alumni)—an organization uniting beneficiaries of U.S. Department of State exchange programs, which she, alongside fellow alumni, co-founded 18 years ago to maintain and advance the shared connections, experiences, and core values brought back from the United States to Kosovo.

The roundtable featured active dialogue alongside the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, as well as prominent KUSA members who double as representatives from key local institutions, businesses, and the broader professional community. Together, they mapped out realistic avenues to fortify Kosovo’s investment climate and catalyze national economic growth.

Strategic Advantages: Youth, Diaspora, and Key Sectors

Kusari-Lila strongly emphasized that Kosovo possesses fundamental structural advantages that position it favorably in the regional market:

  • Demographics & Orientation: The country boasts a young, highly dynamic population, a powerful and financially engaged diaspora, and an unwavering Euro-Atlantic strategic orientation.
  • High-Potential Growth Sectors: Exceptional opportunities exist for scalable investment in primary sectors, including:
    • Manufacturing and Production
    • Renewable Energy
    • Agriculture and Agribusiness
    • Tourism
    • Innovation and IT Services

“Our focus remains the promotion of Kosovo as an attractive investment destination, while simultaneously engineering the necessary conditions so that large-scale projects can be executed rapidly, backed by clear legal procedures, absolute transparency, and coordinated institutional support,” Kusari-Lila maintained.

In closing her remarks, the Acting Minister extended her gratitude to both the members of KUSA and the American Embassy for contributing vital cross-sector ideas, distinct professional experiences, and actionable recommendations aimed at pushing Kosovo’s economic development forward.
