The Central Election Commission (CEC) has officially announced that the formal counting process for expatriate ballots cast at foreign embassies and consulates will launch this afternoon.

The security-vetted tabulation marks the final phase of processing external votes following Kosovo’s recent general elections, tapping directly into the highly influential electoral voice of the global diaspora.

Counting Kicks Off at 4:00 PM

According to CEC Spokesperson Valmir Elezi, the physical opening and counting of the mail-in and in-person ballots are scheduled to begin promptly at 4:00 PM (16:00 CET).

The entire logistical operation will take place under strict observer scrutiny at the heavily secured Counting and Results Center (QNR) in Prishtina. This specific batch of ballots encompasses all early votes successfully cast by members of the diaspora who traveled to cast their ballots physically on June 6, 2026.

“I inform you that today at 16:00 PM at the Counting and Results Center (QNR), the process of counting the ballots from the voting held in our diplomatic missions on June 6 will commence,” Elezi confirmed during an early morning press briefing.

Out of 27,724 total citizens who successfully completed the mandatory pre-registration process to vote abroad, an astonishing 81 percent actively participated, resulting in 22,414 verified physical ballots being couriered back to Prishtina under diplomatic seal.

The CEC has assured political entities, civil society monitors, and international observers that the processing will move forward transparently under standard regulatory procedures, with real-time tally sheets updated systematically as the QNR enters the results into the national grid.
