Prime Minister in acting capacity, Albin Kurti, today paid tribute in Prekaz, accompanied by acting ministers.
After the commemorations, Kurti stated that, as every year, they went there on June 12 as heads of institutions.
“In Prekaz, in this capital of modern resistance of the Albanian people, which also marks the place of the Epic of the KLA, since on March 5–6–7, three generations of the Jashari family stood, fought, and sacrificed for the freedom of our people—for unity, statehood, and independence.
The epic battle of the Jasharis, of father Shaban with his sons Hamza and Ademi, with their wives Zahide, Zarife, Feride, and Adile, and all others who never surrendered for a single moment, is today at the very core of our people’s history—not only of Kosovo as a democratic republic, but also of the Albanian nation as a whole, in the sense of Albanians everywhere, extending beyond the present from ancient times to the future, as our national anthem says, ‘We shall live,’” Kurti stated, reported Lajmi.net.
He added that by returning here and commemorating the sacrifice of the Jasharis, we remain most faithful to liberation, emancipation, independence, and progress.
“Glory to the Jasharis and all martyrs of the nation, happy Liberation Day.”
