The Director of the Department for Public Order and Security at the State Police of Albania, Dhimitraq Ziu, has announced that at least 1,600 additional police officers from various units will be deployed in the field during the tourist season.
“The State Police has implemented a set of measures to ensure the smooth running of the tourist season, where 1,600 officers will be deployed on the ground. These officers are drawn from the Eagles Forces, Traffic Police, Operational Forces, and the National Security Forces,” Ziu said.
In several areas considered more problematic, there will be an increased police presence, along with the establishment of temporary police stations.
“The areas we consider ‘black spots’ and problematic include the route toward Lezhë and the beaches of Shëngjin and Tale, the road toward Vlorë and the beaches of Himarë and Sarandë, the Durrës–Golem road, and Lushnjë–Fier. In addition to the increased presence of officers, temporary police stations will also be set up in Valbona, Theth, Koman, Tale, Gjiri i Lalzit, and Ksamil. This refers to both mountain and coastal tourism,” he stated.
To ensure a safe and trouble-free tourist season, Albanian police will also cooperate with homologous institutions in neighboring countries.
“International police cooperation during the summer will include Kosovo, Montenegro, Italy, and North Macedonia. State Police officers are deployed for joint patrol services, while units from these countries also come to operate in Albania,” Ziu explained.
Throughout the tourist season, radar systems and modern technological tools will be used on roads to monitor traffic and prevent violations of the Road Code that lead to accidents.
