Former Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has reacted to the controversial statement by Serbian Minister Snežana Paunović, who said that if she had been in the position of former Serbian President Slobodan Milošević, she would have “ethnically cleansed Kosovo.”
Bushati described the statement as unacceptable and dangerous, stressing that rhetoric justifying ethnic cleansing has no place in Europe.
“The language of the Serbian government minister supporting ethnic cleansing in Kosovo is unacceptable and dangerous. It is an insult to the victims, their families, and justice. There is no place in Europe for rhetoric that justifies or supports ethnic cleansing. Serbia, as an EU candidate country, should not be an exception,” Bushati stated.
His reaction comes amid growing criticism over Paunović’s remarks, which have sparked condemnation in Kosovo, Albania, and among European officials, who have emphasized that such statements contradict the values and principles of the European Union.
