Following the severe storm that caused widespread damage across Kosovo, Viti Mayor Sokol Haliti has called on the central government to urgently allocate funds to compensate affected residents.

After visiting several of the hardest-hit areas and meeting with citizens, Haliti said the damage to agriculture, family homes, and private property is extensive and exceeds the municipality’s financial capacity.

“The damage is significant and goes beyond the financial capabilities of our municipality. Support from the central government is essential,” Haliti said.

He urged Kosovo’s institutions to take immediate action and provide emergency financial assistance to help affected families recover from the natural disaster.

To ensure a fair and transparent assessment process, Haliti announced that the Municipality of Viti has established a Municipal Damage Assessment Commission, which has already begun inspecting affected areas and documenting losses.

The mayor also called on residents who suffered damage to crops, homes, or other property to report their losses to the municipal authorities as soon as possible so they can be included in the official assessment.

Haliti pledged that the Municipality of Viti would continue advocating until citizens receive full compensation for the damages caused by the storm.
