Former Dutch Ambassador to Kosovo Robert Bosch has reacted to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Belgrade and his meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
In a Facebook post, Bosch criticized Zelenskyy for meeting with Vučić, describing the Serbian president as his “undemocratic friend.”
“Zelenskyy in Belgrade with his undemocratic friend, Vučić. Does it look like he wants to learn how to eliminate local political opponents?” Bosch wrote.
Bosch recalled that Vučić had thanked Zelenskyy for Ukraine’s position regarding the recognition of Kosovo.
Bosch called for Serbia’s recognition of Kosovo to be made a condition for its membership in the European Union.
“I hope that the EU, just as it has done with Serbia itself, will make this recognition a condition for membership,” he wrote.
The former Dutch ambassador also commented on reports of discussions between Serbia and Ukraine regarding joint drone production.
According to Bosch, these developments are concerning for Kosovo and the region.
“Ukraine is starting to become a threat, particularly to Kosovo, but also to the Balkans more broadly. It is time for the EEAS to ask Zelenskyy what he is doing!” he concluded.
