Former Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj has commemorated those who were killed during the second week of August 1998 in Gllogjan and Irzniq.

In a post on social media, Haradinaj said their heroism inspired many freedom fighters and further battles that ultimately led to the liberation of Kosovo.

He also took part in the unveiling of a memorial plaque in Irzniq, honoring the fallen from the village, which, according to Haradinaj, produced prominent freedom fighters and martyrs during the struggle for liberation.

“Today, with pain and pride, in Gllogjan and Irzniq, we commemorated those who fell during the second week of August 1998: Enver and Orhan Halilaj, Arton Hasanaj, Arben Ahmetaj, Halil Sejfijaj, Naim Nimanaj, Maxhun Çekaj, Gëzim Dervishaj, Halil Berisha, Malë Zejnaj, Nexhat Humaj, Naser Idrizaj, Hasan Osmani, and Agron Thaqi,” Haradinaj wrote.

“Their heroism inspired many freedom fighters and many more battles until the liberation of the country. Forever in our historical memory.”
