Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said during the first meeting of the new government that Kosovo is awaiting the verdict of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague concerning former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and Kadri Veseli.

Kurti said that, in his view, the resistance and war waged by the people of Kosovo were just and aimed at liberation. He expressed hope that Wednesday’s verdict would reflect this and that the former KLA leaders would be able to return to Kosovo and reunite with their families.

“After two days, all of Kosovo will be awaiting the verdict of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague concerning the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army — Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and Kadri Veseli.

“For us, everything is clear: the people of Kosovo, our resistance and our war were just, a war of liberation against an occupier that committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

“We believe and hope that Wednesday’s verdict will be in line with this truth, and that the KLA leaders will return home free and be reunited with their families,” Kurti said.
