AAK MP Burim Ramadani has warned of possible provocations and attempts to destabilise Kosovo following the upcoming verdict in the trial of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
Speaking on Pressing on T7, Ramadani said hostile actors could attempt to provoke unrest in Kosovo even if the verdict is an acquittal. According to him, the aim could be to create a situation in which Serbia and Russia portray themselves as having been defeated and then use provocations to fuel instability.
“Enemies may infiltrate and provoke even if the decision is favourable. Their aim is to carry out a scenario in Kosovo where, in the event of a victory, Serbia and Russia would feel defeated. They may try to provoke crowds and people in order to create destabilisation,” Ramadani said.
Ramadani also referred to the 1998 Panda case in Peja, in which six Serbian youths were killed. He claimed that Serbian authorities were responsible for the killings and sought to blame the KLA and Kosovo Albanians.
“In 1998, in the Panda case, Serbia killed its own children in order to blame the KLA and Albanians,” Ramadani said.
His comments come just days before the scheduled September 16 verdict in the case against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi at The Hague, a decision being closely followed in Kosovo and among the diaspora.
