The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, held separate meetings on Thursday with the leaders of three parliamentary parties: Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Lumir Abdixhiku and Ardian Gjini — following the first-instance verdict issued by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
Hamza said the meetings were held at his request and focused on the situation created by the Hague judgment, the challenges facing Kosovo and opportunities for political cooperation during this period.
“Today, at my request, following the decision in The Hague, I met separately with the three leaders of the parliamentary parties, Mr. Kurti, Mr. Abdixhiku and Mr. Gjini,” Hamza wrote in a Facebook post.
He thanked all three leaders for the meetings, saying they discussed the seriousness of the situation and possible avenues for cooperation.
“We discussed the seriousness of the situation that has emerged, the challenges we are facing, as well as opportunities for cooperation during this important period for our people and our state,” Hamza said.
The meetings came one day after the first-instance verdict against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
Earlier on Thursday, Hamza also met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, with whom he discussed possible steps concerning the judgment and the appeals process.
The consultations come as Kosovo’s political leaders respond to the Hague verdict and discuss possible institutional and legal steps following the ruling.
