Besnik Tahiri, head of the parliamentary group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has submitted three proposals to the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, calling for their inclusion in the committee’s work plan.

The first proposal concerns monitoring the implementation of laws governing the Commercial Court and the Administrative Court. The aim is to assess the institutions’ performance, identify challenges and evaluate their impact on the efficiency of Kosovo’s justice system.

Tahiri’s second proposal calls for drafting a Law on Members of Parliament to clearly define MPs’ rights, duties and responsibilities, as well as their legal status and benefits during and after their parliamentary mandates.

The third proposal concerns examining the possibility of establishing a specialized court to combat corruption.

To explore this option, Tahiri suggested that the committee conduct a study visit to Albania’s Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) and the Albanian Parliament. The visit would allow committee members to learn about Albania’s experience, the process of establishing SPAK, the challenges it has faced and the potential lessons for Kosovo.

In a Facebook post, Tahiri said the three initiatives were particularly important for strengthening the rule of law, improving the efficiency of the justice system and advancing institutional integrity and accountability.
