Ukraine claims that 15 major Russian oil refineries are currently out of operation following continued attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, dealing a significant blow to the country’s oil industry.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, strikes targeting Russian energy facilities have severely disrupted refinery operations and reduced processing capacity across the country.

By the end of September, 15 of Russia’s 38 main refineries were reportedly non-operational, while another 12 had been forced to reduce production capacity, Sky News reported.

A spokesperson for Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence Agency said that the overall volume of oil processing at the affected facilities had declined by 55.4 percent compared with the beginning of the year.

Ukrainian attacks have continued in recent weeks. Last weekend, several Russian oil facilities were reportedly struck, triggering major fires at refineries.

The latest developments come after the controversial ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia covering energy infrastructure came to an end, paving the way for renewed attacks on energy facilities.
