Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky returned to the US Capital on Wednesday to strengthen relations with lawmakers who will vote on future aid to his country, which could be in jeopardy if former US President Donald Trump Trump, re-elected.
Zelensky, who is in Washington for this week’s NATO summit, was to meet with Senate and House leaders and members of committees involved in defense, spending, diplomacy and national security.
After calling the 32-member collective security alliance “stronger than ever” in a strong speech on Tuesday, Biden and other NATO leaders now get back to their hard work.
At the top of their agenda is the two-year standoff between the West and Russia over Ukraine.
But the summit also gives leaders a chance to address other troubling security issues, including the Israel-Gaza war and deepening ties between Russia, Iran, China and North Korea.
