Osmani: “Kosovo is Committed to Joining the Council of Europe”

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, today met with a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, led by Petra Bayr, which will observe the general parliamentary elections on February 9th.

President Osmani expressed her gratitude for the support of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) towards Kosovo’s institutions and welcomed the engagement of this mission, which will monitor elections in Kosovo for the first time.

The meeting highlighted that the parliamentary elections on February 9, 2025, are the first regular elections to be held in accordance with the new General Elections Law, and the President considered this moment a significant step in improving democratic processes in the country.

President Osmani emphasized the need for special attention to the representation of women in all stages of the electoral process, as well as the respect for the rights of persons with disabilities, ensuring full and equal access to polling stations.

Furthermore, President Osmani reiterated that the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to joining the Council of Europe and will continue to strengthen the protection of human rights and the rule of law.
