Former U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s and girls’ sports.
“We will protect the proud tradition of female athletes. Women’s sports will be for women only,” Trump stated.
He further emphasized that the order sends a clear message to all schools receiving taxpayer funds: “If you allow men to take over women’s sports teams or invade locker rooms, you will be investigated and risk losing federal funding.”
“This immediately puts an end to the attack on female athletes,” Trump declared.
The executive order prohibits students assigned male at birth who later transitioned from participating in women’s and girls’ sports and from using their facilities.
