The race between candidates from AAK and NISMA remains intense. The AAK-Nisma-Conservatives-Intellectuals-Ideal coalition has secured 7 percent of the votes in the February 9 elections. Based on this result, the coalition is expected to have eight seats in the next legislature.
According to the current results for candidates, AAK is expected to have five deputies, while NISMA Social Democrats will have three.
However, the seat allocation within the coalition could change, and both parties may be equally represented in the upcoming legislature.
NISMA could win four deputies, taking one seat away from AAK if Vesel Krasniqi of NISMA wins the race against Lahi Brahimaj of AAK.
Both candidates within the coalition are competing for one contested seat. The difference between them currently stands at only 190 votes.
Brahimaj and Krasniqi are vying for the seventh spot on the list, as the eighth spot will be filled by Nisma’s candidate Xhevahire Izmaku. She is expected to enter the parliament as the eighth deputy of the coalition through gender quotas.
According to the updated results for candidates, with nearly 95% of votes counted as of Thursday at 11:02 PM, Vesel Krasniqi has narrowed the gap with Lahi Brahimaj to just 190 votes, down from a 246-vote difference in the previous update – after about 92% of votes were counted.
Lahi Brahimaj currently has 10,973 votes, 190 votes more than Vesel Krasniqi, who has 10,783.
