President Donald Trump announced that after speaking with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, it was agreed that Mexico would not be required to pay tariffs on anything covered under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) until April 2.
“After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay tariffs on anything covered under the USMCA. This arrangement is in place until April 2. I did this as an accommodation and out of respect for President Sheinbaum.
Our relationship has been very good, and we are working hard together at the border to both stop the illegal entry of foreigners into the United States and prevent the flow of fentanyl. Thank you, President Sheinbaum, for your tireless work and cooperation,” Trump wrote in his post.
