Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responds to the Trump-Putin phone call, emphasizing that peace talks without Ukraine’s involvement will not bring results and calling for a lasting ceasefire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to the recent phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, reiterating that any peace talks involving Ukraine but excluding Kyiv will not yield meaningful results.

Zelensky expressed support for the proposal to halt attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days. He affirmed that Ukraine is open to any initiative that leads to a fair and lasting peace. However, Zelensky made it clear that a ceasefire without conditions would be a significant step forward in the right direction.

Despite these remarks, Zelensky stressed that peace talks conducted without Ukraine at the table would not result in any progress. He called on all parties to involve Ukraine in discussions, as it remains central to any peace process.

The Ukrainian president also commented on Russia’s offer to release 23 severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers, calling for the release of all prisoners as a genuine demonstration of Russia’s commitment to peace talks. Zelensky suggested that such an action would show that Russia is serious about pursuing peace.

Addressing Russian President Putin’s request to stop all foreign military aid and intelligence exchanges, Zelensky firmly stated that Ukraine’s allies would never agree to such a move. He expressed confidence that military supplies would continue despite Russia’s demands. Zelensky believes this request is an attempt to weaken Ukraine’s position and hinder its defense efforts.

The Ukrainian leader further mentioned that his military had assessed that Russia is preparing new offensives in several regions, including Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia. These offensives aim to increase pressure on Kyiv and strengthen Russia’s military position in the ongoing conflict.

As the war in Ukraine continues, President Zelensky remains firm in his stance that Ukraine’s involvement in peace talks is crucial for any resolution. The call for a ceasefire without conditions and the ongoing military assessments underscore the urgency of a fair and lasting peace that prioritizes Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
