The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) has increased the presence of its police patrols near the main border crossing points between Kosovo and Serbia on the day elections are being held in Serbia.

According to an EULEX statement, patrols by its Specialised Police Unit have been reinforced since the early hours of Sunday to monitor the security situation on the ground.

The operation is being carried out in coordination with the Kosovo Police and the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR), as part of the three-tier security response mechanism.

The increased presence aims to ensure continuous monitoring of the situation and strengthen coordination among the relevant security mechanisms throughout the electoral process in Serbia.
