Karen Pierce, the UK’s envoy for the Western Balkans, has announced that she has started her work in the position assigned to her.
In a post on platform X, she emphasized that she is pleased to be heading to Berlin, Germany, for the Western Balkans.
“Just like the United Kingdom, Germany plays a key role in the region.”
“We are looking forward to working together as close partners with the UK hosting the Berlin Process,” said Pierce.
Karen Pierce was appointed by the UK as the envoy for the Western Balkans in February of this year.
In a statement issued by British institutions, it is said that diplomat Pierce has been entrusted with continuing the work to achieve the objectives for the Western Balkans.
“As one of the most experienced diplomats of the United Kingdom, Dame Karen Pierce has been appointed as the UK’s special envoy to the Western Balkans, tasked with advancing the UK’s strategic objectives across the region, including preparations for the Summit,” the British institutions stated.
Pierce previously held the position of the US Ambassador and has served as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, becoming the first woman to hold that position.
