Maqedonci reveals which European country is expected to join the defense pact between Albanians and CroatsThe Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, stated that the military agreement between Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia could be expanded, as Bulgaria has expressed interest in joining in the near future.
According to him, this initiative was first discussed in Zagreb last year, where the idea of a trilateral agreement was proposed, but without excluding the possibility of other countries in the region joining later.
“The initiative for this agreement was raised during my visit to Zagreb last summer, when I discussed it with Minister Nanoshić. We considered the possibility of a trilateral cooperation including Albania, but always keeping the door open for other countries in the region that share common Euro-Atlantic values,” said Maqedonci on the CONTEXT program on ATV.
He said that this agreement is not aimed at threatening anyone, but rather to increase cooperation between the countries of the region that have shared interests in the field of defense and security.
“It is not the goal of this agreement to threaten anyone, but to strengthen regional cooperation between countries that share the same values and strategic interests. This is an initiative for stability and security in the Western Balkans,” Maqedonci said.
The Minister confirmed that they are in contact with other NATO countries and that Bulgaria is one of the states that could soon become part of this agreement.
“Minister Nushiq emphasized before signing the agreement in Albania that Bulgaria could become part of this initiative in the near future. But we remain open to other countries that want to be part of this cooperation,” said Maqedonci.
