Denis MacShane, the former British Minister for Europe, has described Kenya’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence as a wise decision, praising it as a step in line with the positions of major global democracies, reports Rks News.

In a post on platform X, he reacted to criticisms from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, calling him a “puppet of Putin” and emphasizing that Serbian rule over Kosovo will not return.

“A wise move by Kenyan President William Ruto to recognize Kosovo, in line with all the major democratic economies. Putin’s puppet, Serbian leader Vučić, screams, but Kenya, like Kosovo, knows what it means to be a colony. Serbian rule over Kosovo will not return,” he wrote.

MacShane has been a supporter of Kosovo’s independence from the beginning, consistently criticizing Serbia’s policy towards Kosovo and Russia’s influence in the region.

He emphasized that Kosovo’s independence is irreversible and that recognition from other countries demonstrates that the international community is consolidating this reality.

It is worth mentioning that just a few days ago, Kenyan President William Ruto confirmed that his country recognized Kosovo’s independence, becoming one of the latest nations to make this decision.

Kenya’s recognition of Kosovo has sparked strong reactions in Serbia, with President Vučić stating that he will take diplomatic steps to oppose this decision.
