Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has publicly rejected the possibility of holding talks with Washington regarding Tehran’s expanding nuclear program.

Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed direct talks through a letter sent to Tehran.

“Although the possibility of direct talks between the two sides has been dismissed in this response, it has been emphasized that the path for indirect talks remains open,” said Pezeshkian in a televised statement on March 30, referring to Trump’s letter.

While senior Iranian officials had previously spoken against the idea of holding nuclear talks with the United States, this is the first time Iran has officially rejected the U.S. call for negotiations.

Since Trump’s return to the White House, his administration has consistently stated that Iran must be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons, and has not ruled out the possibility of military action if Iran disregards Trump’s efforts for talks.
