The feasibility study for the Durrës–Prishtina railway, also known as the “Red & Black Railway”, was officially presented today in Shkodër. The railway will run from Durrës to Shkodër, then pass through Gjakova, and end in Prishtina.

Albania’s Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku, described the project as a “historic moment for Albania,” emphasizing that the railway is not just a transport route but a national link of geopolitical significance.

“The Red & Black Railway will become a connecting hub for three major European corridors: Corridor 8, Corridor 10, and the Adriatic-Ionian corridor, turning it into a strategic point for the region’s political and economic development,” Balluku said.

The Minister also highlighted Shkodër’s key role as a central station, while pointing out Gjakova’s historical and strategic importance in linking Albania and Kosovo. The project aims to strengthen national connectivity and enhance Albania and Kosovo’s positions on Europe’s infrastructure map.
