Ahead of the ninth attempt to convene the Assembly, Acting Finance Minister Hekuran Murati reiterated that Vetëvendosje (VV) stands firmly behind Albulena Haxhiu as its candidate for Speaker of Parliament.
“We have made our proposal and fulfilled our constitutional obligation. We’ve also gone further—with Prime Minister Kurti inviting the leaders of the two next-largest parties,” Murati stated.
He emphasized that according to the Constitution, the three largest parties are entitled to deputy speaker positions, and that a full consensus on the Assembly’s leadership would help avoid continuous deadlocks.
“The goal was to reach an agreement on all candidates for the Assembly presidency to prevent blockade after blockade. I sincerely hope that after PDK’s positive response, there will be reflection from others as well,” Murati said.
He pointedly added that it is becoming increasingly clear who is responsible for the political stalemate:
“Refusing even to discuss the matter speaks volumes. Gradually, the public is seeing who is blocking the process.”
