Since 7:00 AM this morning, Albanian citizens have been exercising their right to vote to elect a new Parliament. So far, the process has proceeded normally across the country, with only a few minor incidents reported in some regions.
According to the Central Election Commission, by 5:00 PM, voter turnout had reached 38.42%, based on data from 2,413 out of a total of 5,225 polling stations. This marks a turnout approximately 5.4% lower compared to the 2021 parliamentary elections, when by 4:00 PM, turnout stood at about 43.8%.
Meanwhile, seven individuals have been arrested for photographing their ballot papers. The incidents occurred in cities including Elbasan, Gjirokastër, and Librazhd, among others, and include a former police officer. All detainees are suspected of taking pictures of their ballot papers inside the voting booths.
