KFOR stated in a press release that the discussion at the meeting covered “a wide range of topics,” including security trends throughout the region, the situation in Kosovo following the parliamentary elections in February, the recent meeting between the KFOR Commander and the EU Special Representative, Peter Sorensen, and KFOR’s activities and cooperation with the international community.
“All participants reiterated the key role played by KFOR in support of regional stability and the importance of unity of effort towards sustainable security for the benefit of all communities,” KFOR emphasized in the statement.
KFOR reaffirmed its continued commitment to contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo, in accordance with its UN mandate – based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999; at all times and impartially; and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in their respective roles as security responders.
