One week after the parliamentary elections, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on Sunday the completion of the ballot counting process from abroad for political parties in Albania’s 12 districts.

While the vote counting for parties has concluded, the next phase will focus on evaluating preferential votes for candidates on the “open list.”

So far, only the Kukës district has fully completed the process for candidate-level vote counting.

According to CEC data updated at 7:00 PM, the Socialist Party (PS) has secured the majority with 61.11% of the counted votes, or 121,815 votes, followed by the Democratic Party (PD) with 23.56% or 46,954 votes. The “Albania Becoming” Coalition (Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet) ranks third with 7.41% of the total or 14,768 diaspora votes.

This marked the first time that the Albanian diaspora participated in parliamentary elections, held on May 11. According to the CEC, a total of 201,558 envelopes were counted out of 245,935 eligible voters registered abroad, translating to nearly 80 percent voter turnout from the diaspora.
