The women’s football team Dukagjini from Klina has made history by winning the Kosovo Cup for the first time. In a dramatic final held Monday at the “Fadil Vokrri” Stadium in Prishtina, Dukagjini triumphed over Mitrovica in a penalty shootout, with an overall score of 6-5, reports Rks News.

The match was intense and competitive. After regular time and two 15-minute extra time periods, the score remained tied at 1-1. Mitrovica took the lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Marigona Tahiri, while Gjenifer Pjetri equalized for Dukagjini in the 62nd minute.

Mitrovica was reduced to ten players after a red card, which significantly influenced the flow of the match and the penalty shootout. In this decisive stage, Dukagjini’s players showed greater calmness and focus.

“Dukagjini’s players demonstrated composure and precision, leading them to victory,” the match summary noted.

Mitrovica, who had previously secured the Kosovo league title with a 1-0 win against Dukagjini, was unable to repeat their success in the Cup final. This time, Dukagjini got their revenge and lifted the trophy, completing a successful and historic season for the club.
