The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has warned that the country is facing a dangerous institutional blockade, for which it holds the winning coalition of Vetëvendosje (LVV), Guxo, and Alternativa responsible.

At a party leadership meeting, PDK Chairman Memli Krasniqi reiterated that the best solution for the country would be the formation of a new government by the former opposition parties.

He also revealed that he has formally requested President Vjosa Osmani to submit a constitutional question to the Constitutional Court regarding the eligibility of a candidate for Speaker of the Assembly. This, he said, is necessary to clarify the legal and institutional responsibilities in the current impasse.

Krasniqi also addressed the recent rejection by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague of the temporary release requests for Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi, calling it a denial of a basic right.

“Conditional release was a reasonable and expected right. The refusal by the court represents a denial of a fundamental legal principle,” he stated.
