The U.S. Embassy in Tirana has congratulated the people of Albania for the successful conduct of the parliamentary elections held on May 11.
In a brief statement, the Embassy emphasized the continuation of the strong partnership between the United States and Albania:
“We congratulate the people of Albania on the parliamentary elections and look forward to continuing our close partnership with Albania.”
The May 11 parliamentary elections resulted in a clear victory for the Socialist Party, which secured 83 mandates. They were followed by the Democratic Party with 50 mandates, the Social Democratic Party with three mandates, Party of Opportunity with two mandates, and Together Movement and Initiative Albania Can each securing one mandate.
The elections are seen as a key step in Albania’s ongoing democratic development and its path toward deeper Euro-Atlantic integration.
