The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has commented on the request submitted by the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) to the Constitutional Court regarding the establishment of a Committee for Secret Voting in the election of the Speaker of the Assembly, RKS News reports.

Abdixhiku stated that the LDK will respect the decision of the Constitutional Court, regardless of its outcome. However, he emphasized that the party’s MPs will remain firm in their opposition to secret voting.

“We want to respect the decision, and we will. But our MPs will remain unwavering in their stance against it,” Abdixhiku said in an interview with TV Dukagjini.

He added that even if the Constitutional Court permits secret voting, LDK MPs will participate in the process and openly express their opposition. “They will come out, take the ballot, fill it out against, show it to the camera, and place it in the box — 20 votes against. Nothing changes,” he said.

AAK had contested the formation of the Committee for Secret Voting, requesting the Constitutional Court to interpret whether a previous decision by the Assembly for open voting can be changed at this stage.
