The public spat between Donald Trump and Elon Musk appears to be reaching a fever pitch, with the latest exchange involving a potential new political party and a sharp retort from the former president.

The recent escalation began when Musk publicly criticized the Trump administration for “irrational spending,” accusing it of pushing the debt ceiling to a record $5 trillion. He reiterated his call for the formation of a new party that “truly cares about the people.”

Musk further clarified his intentions on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “If this crazy spending bill passes, the American Party will be founded the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty system so that people can truly have a VOICE.” He also pinned a poll result on his X account, showing that 80% of respondents support creating a new party in the U.S., adding, “The voice of the people is the voice of God.”

Trump’s Fiery Response

Shortly after, Donald Trump fired back on his Truth Social platform, effectively “showing the door” to the South African-born magnate. Among other remarks, Trump wrote: “Elon probably should close his business and go back to his homeland, South Africa.”

Trump’s post continued: “Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly endorsed me for President, that I was dead set against mandated Electric Cars. It’s ridiculous and has always been a big part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to buy one.”

He then added, “Elon may get more subsidies than any other person in history, and without subsidies, Elon probably should close his business and go back to his homeland, South Africa. There will be no more rockets, satellites, or electric car production, and our country will save a fortune. Maybe we should ask DOGE to seriously consider this? IT WILL SAVE A LOT OF MONEY!!!” The American president concluded his post with this dramatic statement.
