Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani is continuing her series of consultative meetings with political party leaders today, welcoming Fikrim Damka, chairman of the Democratic Turkish Party of Kosovo (KDTP).

These discussions are part of ongoing efforts to overcome the political deadlock that has hindered the constitution of Kosovo’s new Assembly and to create space for political dialogue among parliamentary entities.

President Osmani initiated this new round of consultations following the Constitutional Court’s recent decision, which aimed to provide greater clarity on the constitution process. The meetings are being held separately with each political leader to facilitate an agreed-upon and functional solution.

Later today, President Osmani is also expected to meet with representatives of various communities.

On Wednesday, Osmani hosted Albin Kurti, head of Vetëvendosje; Memli Krasniqi, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo; Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo; and Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, all in an attempt to find a solution to the institutional crisis.

During those meetings, Osmani urged the leaders to reach a consensus on the Assembly’s constitution “as soon as possible,” or within the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court, the Presidency stated in a communiqué after the meeting.
