Kosovo’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is launching an awareness campaign today against festive shooting. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance public safety and prevent the illegal and dangerous use of firearms during celebrations.

Participants and Campaign Goals

The event will host several key figures, including Blerim Gashani, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Head of the Commission for Small Arms and Light Weapons; Jonas Westerlund, Sweden’s Ambassador to Kosovo; Peter Valleste, representative of the European Union Office in Kosovo; Nuno Queiros, UNDP Resident Representative in Kosovo; and Arbnesh Ajvazi, Director of the Public Order Department in the Kosovo Police. Representatives from the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Judicial Council, and other relevant institutions will also be present.

The campaign aims to raise public awareness about the legal consequences and dangers of celebratory gunfire, especially during wedding and holiday seasons. By doing so, it seeks to contribute to creating a safer environment for all citizens.
