French President Emmanuel Macron has called for the swift conclusion of a trade agreement between the European Union and the United States, emphasizing the need for low, fair, and sustainable tariffs, reports Rks News.

The statement was made just six days before the deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for concluding the negotiations.

At the same time, Macron threatened Iran with countermeasures if it does not drop charges against two French citizens, Cecile Collet and Jacques Paris, who are being held in Iranian prisons accused of espionage for the Israeli Mossad agency.

The French president described these accusations as an unacceptable provocation and aggression against France. He announced that he will soon discuss this matter with his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian.
