Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved a new humanitarian aid package for Ukraine, aiming to improve access to clean water in regions where water infrastructure has been destroyed by Russian bombings since 2022.

The announcement was made by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar during an official meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Yevgen Korniychuk, The Times of Israel reports.

The aid package includes special systems for potable water supply, capable of meeting the needs of tens of thousands of citizens in the most affected areas, particularly in eastern Ukraine.

According to estimates from the international Global WASH Cluster network, led by UNICEF, around 9.6 million Ukrainians currently lack adequate water and sanitation services – posing a serious public health challenge across the country.

Since the beginning of the war, Israel has consistently provided humanitarian assistance but has refrained from supplying military aid — a decision that has drawn criticism from Kyiv due to Israel’s cautious diplomatic stance toward Moscow.
