Faton Peci, a member of the same party as Donika Gërvalla, reacted strongly after the Kosovo Assembly’s constitutive session failed once again.
Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) first proposed Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker, but she did not secure enough votes. Afterward, LVV proposed Donika Gërvalla, but she too failed to gain parliamentary approval. The session was adjourned and will resume on 22 August.
Peci criticized the unified opposition of PDK, LDK, AAK, and the Serbian List, saying:
“Today will remain in my memory for life. Not only for the raised hands against Albulena Haxhiu, but also because I saw with my own eyes in the Assembly the hands raised in unison against Donika Jusuf Gërvalla, the granddaughter of Mother Ajshe, for Speaker of the Republic. They stood united against the formation of the government and against the Gërvalla name, which is a symbol of pride and a mark of history.”
The reaction comes after the Constitutional Court published its full ruling on the formation of the Assembly on Monday, reiterating that the constitutive session must be successfully completed within 30 days from the official announcement of election results, including the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers.
