Authorities at the “Bogorodicë” border crossing in North Macedonia have uncovered and prevented an attempt to smuggle 4,577 unsafe medicines.
According to the Customs Administration, a criminal complaint has been filed against a Kosovo citizen, while the contraband goods have been confiscated.
The medicines – including analgesics, anesthetics, and anti-allergic solutions in glass ampoules – were found without original packaging, permits, or proper certification. Customs officials reported that the suspect had hidden the items inside cardboard boxes, placing them among passenger neck pillows in the luggage compartment of a rented vehicle in order to avoid inspection.
The case has now been referred to the Department of Investigations for further legal action.
