The Albanian Armed Forces will be equipped with the first “LMV2” armored vehicles, manufactured by “Iveco Defence Vehicles,” the military division of the Italian company “Iveco,” which announced the news on social media.

“A historic moment for LMV2: The Armed Forces of Albania will be equipped with our vehicles,” the company stated.

According to the announcement, the purchase will be financed by the European Union through the Peace Fund, while implementation will be carried out by the Italian Defense Industry Agency.

Details on the total cost or the number of vehicles to modernize the Albanian Army have not been disclosed, but the “LMV2” model is the latest generation of a successful series, offering advanced ballistic and mine protection. The vehicles are equipped with a 220-horsepower engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, and are suitable for challenging terrains.

The “LMV2” has been tested in international missions, including Afghanistan, and is used by the armed forces of several major countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, and Norway.

In the region, similar vehicles are also in use by the armies of North Macedonia and Montenegro.
